Amy was born circa 1870 at Hoose, Wirral, Cheshire.³ She was the daughter of Thomas Jones and Effie Nicholson.¹

She was recorded as living with her parents (although his father was out fishing) and brother Samuel in the 1871 census at Grove Road, Hoylake, Cheshire. She was recorded as being just 1 year old.⁴

She was recorded as living with her mother, her mother's mother and siblings Samuel, Thomas, Eva, Martha and Ezra in the 1881 census. She was recorded as being 11 years old.³ Her occupation was recorded as being a scholar in the census.³

She was recorded as living with her parents, grandmother and siblings Thomas, Martha, Noel and Hannah in the 1901 census at 15 Marmion Road, Hoose, Wirral, Cheshire. She was recorded as being 31 years old.⁵

She was recorded as living with her parents and adult siblings Martha and Noel in the 1911 census at Hoose, Wirral, Cheshire. She was recorded as being 41 years old.⁶
