Minnie Chappell was born on 27 July 1881 at Bath.1 She was the daughter of Edwin Chappell and Harriet Oaten.1 Minnie Chappell During the first world war Fred Chappell son of Edwin Chappell visited Minnie and her sister Ada who lived together with Ada's daughter Annie. The ladies corresponded with Fred and the Australian relatives.
Minnie was unmarried and kept house for Ada and Annie. A room of this home was also let to a school-teacher as her means of support. Minnie had a dog and as one can see from the photograph, the dog was a delight to her.
On 8th May, 1845, the day war came to an end she heard a band playing in Lansdown Road and went to the window to see what it was all about. She put her hand on some wire above a window box for support; the wire gave way and she fell to her death.1
