William Henry Wesley was born circa 1842 at Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire.1 He was the son of William Wesley and Frances Hannah Wayte.1
He was recorded as living with his parents, two unmarried aunts, two servants and younger siblings John, Edmund and Frances in the 1851 census at High Street, Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire. He was recorded as being 9 years old.1 William Henry Wesley was a 'scholar at home', perhaps being educated by his aunt Mary.1
His mother died circa December 1860 at the approximate age of 39 years. After the death of their mother, William Wesley remained with his two eldest sons in London, whilst the three youngest children were sent home to Derbyshire with his wife's sister Emma..2
He was recorded as living with his father and brother Edmund in the 1861 census at 31 Clayton Road, Lambeth, London. He was recorded as being 19 years old.3 William Henry Wesley was a word engraver.3
