William Wesley was born circa 1814 at Newtown, Lancashire.2
William Wesley married Frances Hannah Wayte, daughter of Thomas Wayte and Hannah Sharpe, circa September 1840 at Ashby-de-la-Zouch Registration District, Leicestershire.1
He was recorded as head of household in the 1851 census with Frances Hannah Wayte as his spouse at High Street, Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire. His age was recorded as 37 years old. Also living in the house were four of their children, two sister's in law and two servants.2 William Wesley was a 'printer, publisher and stock [?]' employing 5 men.2
His wife Frances died circa December 1860 at the approximate age of 39 years, leaving him a widower. After her death, William Wesley remained with his two eldest sons in London, whilst the three youngest children were sent home to Derbyshire with his wife's sister Emma.3
He was recorded as head of household in the 1861 census at 31 Clayton Road, Lambeth, London. 47 years old. Also living in the house were two of his teenage sons.4 William Wesley was a publisher.4
