Thomas Hardy Lipson was born circa 1823 at England.2 He was the son of Thomas Lipson and Elizabeth Emma Fooks.1

Thomas emigrated from England on 20 March 1836 on the Cygnet with his parents and siblings. The Cygnet stoped in Rio de Janeiro for cuddy stores.1,3 Thomas arrived at South Australia on 11 September 1836 with his parents and siblings. The family spent 4 months on Kangaroo Island before moving to Port Adelaide on 6th January 1837.1,3

Thomas Hardy Lipson is reputed to have taken up with an Ulsterwoman named Rebecca, a "lovely and attractive young woman and she was as fickle and violent tempered as she was beautiful" and had three boys, although they never married.4

Thomas died on 18 March 1862.2
