Thomas Richardson was born circa 1833 at Chellaston, Derbyshire.1 He was the son of Richard Richardson and Maria Bryer.1

He was recorded as living with his parents, three servants and his siblings Richard, John, Elizabeth, Charles and Ann in the 1841 census at Church Street, Chellaston, Derbyshire. He was recorded as being 8 years old.2 Thomas Richardson was a merchant's clerk in April 1861.1

He was recorded as living with his brother and his wife, their 7 year old daughter and two servants in the 1861 census at 11 Monton Street, Moss Side, Manchester. He was recorded as being 28 years old.1
