Niels Eriksen Houm was also known as Niels Eriksen Qvissellien.4 Niels Eriksen Houm was also known as Niels Erichsen.3 He was likely born in 1767 at at Bårdset øvre farm Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark, Norway.5,6 He was the son of Erich Nielsen Houmb and Marthe Monsdatter.3 He presumably lived with his parents at Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark, in December 1767.5 Niels Eriksen Houm was probably baptised on Sunday, 6 December 1767 at Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark, Norway.5 Niels lived in May 1787 at at Kvislien (or Qvissellien) farm Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark, Norway.7

He married Ales Tollefsdatter Houm, daughter of Tollef Arnesøn Ottersrud and Alis Evensdatter, on Friday, 4 May 1787 at Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark..7,3 Niels and Ales lived in March 1788 at Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark.8

In June 1790 he appears to have a mortgage on Ottersrud farm.4 Niels and Ales lived in November 1792 at at Houmb (or Houm) nedre farm Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark, Norway.9

In December 1792 he appears to have a mortgage on Houmb (or Houm) nedre farm when he bought the farm for750 rd. from Peder Erichsen.2,6 Niels and Ales lived in July 1795 at Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark.10

Niels was a sponsor at Tollef Christensen's baptism on Sunday, 25 March 1798 at Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark.11

He was recorded as head of household in the 1801 census with Ales Tollefsdatter Houm as his spouse at Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark. Also living in the house was his wife, his parents and their five children.3,12

In March 1805 [SP1] appears to have left Houmb (or Houm) nedre farm, selling it for 1999 rd. to Knud Larsen.13,6 Niels and Ales lived in October 1820 at at Angelset farm Ringsaker Parish, Hedmark, Norway.14
