Mary Ann Jones was likely born on 14 September 1830 at Oswestry, Shropshire.2,3 She may have been born in September 1831.4
Mary Ann Jones married Donald Nicholson, son of Alexander Nicholson and Martha Davies, on Saturday, 27 May 1854 at Birkenhead, Cheshire. They were 23 and 19 respectively.1
Mary Ann Jones was recorded as the spouse of Donald Nicholson in the 1861 census at Lodge, Oswestry, Shropshire. She was recorded as being 30 years old. Also living inthe house were 3 of her children and her husband's nephew.2 Her occupation was recorded as being a schoolmaster's wife in the census.2
She was recorded as head of household in the 1871 census at Castle Street, Oswestry, Shropshire. She was 40 years old. Also living in the house were two of her sons and a fourteen year old nephew of her husband. Her husband Donald was recorded as being abroad, perhaps in America.5 Her occupation was recorded as being a housekeeper in the census.5
Mary emigrated from England in 1875.4 Mary arrived at U.S.A. in 1875.4
She was recorded as living with an Irish woman called Ellen Connolly whom she and Donald were boarding with in the 1900 census at 611 Monroe Street, Brooklyn, Kings, New York. She was recorded as being 68 years old.4
Mary died on 27 August 1901 at New York City at age 70.1
