Murdock Henry Ernest Winton Nicholson was born on 30 December 1888 at Winton, Queensland.1 He was the son of Daniel Malcolm McBean Nicholson and Catherine Ann O'Reilly.1 Murdock Henry Ernest Winton Nicholson was also known as Murdough Henry.2

His mother died June 1902 at the age of 39. Murdock was aged 13 when this happened. After their mother died, their father apparently didn't help raise the children; they were fostered or looked after by family and friends in the Winton and Kyuna district. There is some suggestion that their grandmother never acknowledged her grandchildren, yet according to the birth certificates she assisted with at least some of the births..3 Murdock lived in 1913 at 'Rossvale' or 'Rosevale' or 'Rosavale', in Cloncurry, Queensland.1 He was a miner in 1913.1

Murdock Henry Ernest Winton Nicholson married Lillian Beatrice Thomas, daughter of Edwin Thomas and Alice Mildren, on Saturday, 12 May 1917 at Charters Towers, Queensland. They were 28 and 18 respectively.1 Murdock lived in 1921 at Cloncurry, Queensland.1 He was a miner in 1921.1 Murdock lived in 1922 at Cloncurry, Queensland.1 He was a miner in 1922.1 Murdock lived in 1934 at McKinlay, Queensland.1 As of 1934, Murdock Henry Ernest Winton Nicholson also went by the name of Stepper.4 He was a cook in 1934.1

Murdock was involved in the following: in September 1935:
Nicholson, Murdoch Henry, alias Stepper Nicholson and David Insch; carrying liquor about for sale without a license; each fined £15 or three months imprisonment; Mackay 27-8-35 Constable A. B. Johnson and Police Constable H. H. Draydon.5

Murdock's brother James began military service on Thursday, 22 May 1941 with the 2/9th battalion AIF (QX11838) at age 39.6 Murdock lived in 1949 at 134 George Street, in Rockhampton, Queensland.1 He was a labourer in 1949.1

Murdock died on 1 March 1950 at Aramac, Queensland, at age 61.1 He was buried on 2 March 1950 at Aramac Cemetery, in Aramac, Queensland.1
