Annie Lucy Deane was born on 2 October 1887 at Adelaide.1 She was the daughter of Thomas Stutley and Elizabeth Deane.1,2 When Annie was about 14 years she left her home and went to live with a Mrs. Neal in South Melbourne. Mrs. Neal had befriended her at the Montague St. Church of England, and Annie looked after Mrs. Neal’s children.2

Annie Lucy Deane married George Setter on Thursday, 28 November 1907 at the Melbourne suburb of Carlton. They were 20 and 24 respectively.2 Annie Lucy Deane was a seamstress circa 1910.2

Annie died on 20 March 1971 at at Box Hill Hospital in the Melbourne suburb of Box Hill at age 83 of a stroke. She is remembered as 'the most gentle, generous, loving individual one could possibly meet. She had very little but gave everything away. She befriended the unfortunate, the poor and downtrodden.2'
