Emma was born on Sunday, 28 May 1848 at North Adelaide.1 She was the daughter of John Berjew and Catherine Jane Iles Fooks.

Emma died on 26 July 1848 at North Adelaide.2

Her death was recorded in the Adelaide register on 29 July 1848:
'On Thursday 26th July, Emma Fooks, youngest daughter of Mr J Berjew. Aged two months.3'
