Donald was born on Monday, 4 December 1911 at the Sydney suburb of Hunters Hill.1 He was the son of George Gibb Nicholson and Marguerite Marie Danuser. He presumably lived with his parents at at Gladstone Avenue in the Sydney suburb of Hunters Hill in 1919.2
He married Jean Isobel Rowe, on Saturday, 20 July 1940.1
His father died 22 December 1948 at the age of 73. Donald was aged 37 when this happened. Donald and Jean lived in 1986 at New Zealand.
Donald died on 20 October 1994 at Auckland, New Zealand, at age 82.3,4
